About Our Program

Large and small businesses alike all need skilled workers who are familiar with today's modern office equipment. They also need workers who possess strong business skills and can apply those skills to a wide range of tasks. NPC's Modern Office Technologies program will teach you a combination of skills such as Microsoft Office and Publisher, keyboarding and ten-key, business writing and proofreading, records management, customer service, bookkeeping and professionalism. You'll be taught by faculty who truly care about your success and will help you stand out to employers so you can obtain a good job.

Degree/Certificate Options

Certificate of Proficiency in Modern Office Technologies Fundamentals
A shortened program of study consisting of five courses that focus on honing modern office skills including customer service, business grammar, proofreading, document processing, records management as well as an introduction to Windows and Microsoft Word.

Certificate of Applied Science in Modern Office Technologies
After completing the Certificate of Proficiency in Modern Office Technologies Fundamentals, students can take an additional two courses in business, plus one in English and one in mathematics to earn this higher level certificate to further round out their education and résumé.

Associate of Applied Science in Modern Office Technologies
Students who want to increase their pay and standout to employers can earn a degree in Associate of Applied Science Degree in Modern Office Technologies by completing the Certificate of Applied Science and then taking the additional 35 credits in general education and business courses. Earning an associate degree can give you a significant advantage over other applicants when applying for a job.

Employment of secretaries and administrative assistants is projected to grow 12 percent through 2022. Many job openings will result from the need to replace workers who leave the occupation.
